CELEBRATING OUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY!

The Legal Studies Institute was founded in 1982 and offers comprehensive non-credit programs that are structured to accommodate working adults. LSI has been serving the education needs of the legal community for 25 years.

Courses are taught by legal professionals, including judges, attorneys, paralegals, and certified paralegals. Classes meet at FIU's University Park campus and at the Pines Center on weekday evenings and Saturdays. The Legal Studies Institute has been offering programs to members of the Bench and Bar since 1995.

Notice to Paralegal Program Students:

As of January 1, 2005 , the FIU Paralegal Program will be participating in a new Westlaw plan that enables students to obtain Westlaw passwords for class work use.

The price of the password will be $80.00; the password will be good for one calendar year from date of purchase. The password can be used to perform research for any class or subject matter, as the student may wish. However, students must comply with instructors' wishes regarding Westlaw usage.

It will be mandatory for Legal Research students to purchase a password. In other words, if you enroll in Legal Research, you are required to purchase a Westlaw password.

Please arrange to purchase the password at Registration. This will allow for activation prior to commencing your courses.

Paralegal students need to learn how to use computer legal research because this is increasingly becoming a necessity in the workplace. With the Westlaw password you can ensure that you are off to the best possible start.

With your password you will have access to the basics of online legal research: federal case law, and primary law sources for all fifty states

This includes access to KeyCite®, USCA®, and federal and state administrative sources.

In addition, you will have access to secondary sources on a wide range of legal topics. This includes litigation forms and analytical materials from all states.

Please take advantage of this opportunity, offered through LSI.
