Academic Credit Courses

Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS) offers academic credit courses that can lead to degrees or certificates from Florida International University. To ensure convenient class times and locations that fit your schedule, our courses are offered in compressed time frames, at off-campus locations, and as weekend executive programs. CAPS also offers a number of Study/Travel Programs, in which a student may earn academic credit while traveling and studying in exciting locations throughout the world.


Academic credit programs that are offered through Continuing and Professional Studies are listed throughout FIU’s regular schedule of classes. You may register for these courses through FIU’s Office of the Registrar and outreach centers or via online at http://sis.fiu.edu/.

Specially designed academic credit programs can be arranged through CAPS, including degree or certificate programs to be held on-site for your employees or through our expansive interactive distance learning network. Master of Arts in Political Science - Jointly sponsored by FIU and FLACSO (Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales), this program shall consist of courses taught in Spanish and that will be held at the Metropolitan Center located in Downtown Miami.   All courses shall be offered after 5:00 pm and on Saturdays making this program equally accessible to working professionals and students.   Upon completion of the program, students will earn two degrees: one from FIU and another from FLACSO.

Master of Science in Occupational Therapy - The online Master of Science in Occupational Therapy consists of 36 credits including a project. The project will increase understanding of the theoretical bases and current issues of occupational therapy practice. The Professional Counseling Psychology Masters Program (PCP) - Allows you to earn a Master of Science in Psychology and eligibility for a professional license in Mental Health Counseling in just 18 months by attending classes every other weekend. Master of Science in Hospitality Management - Executive Masters Track - This track is an intensive, 18-month degree program requiring participants to complete 30 credit hours/10 courses of graduate work.

Master of Public Health - The MPH is a 46 credit hour online program designed to provide fundamental skills in core areas of Public Health and to server those seeking a broader base of knowledge to improve environmental and personal health services for the community.
